Tax Manager

The Tax Manager will join Discord's dynamic Tax team and be an integral part of the global tax function. Reporting to our Senior Director of Tax, you will play a key role in helping the team with day-to-day tax operations functions such as worldwide income tax provision, Federal, State, and International income tax compliance, tax controversy and other projects, as required, to support business partners and department needs. This position will also interact with key finance, accounting, and other business partners across Discord.

The ideal candidate can pair a global mindset with locally relevant execution. You should be a team leader who can drive programs with the engineering team and across external strategic partner organizations. You will display a balance of hard and soft skills, including the ability to respond quickly to changing business needs.

What you'll be doing

• Key contributions to quarterly and annual income tax accounting workstreams, including preparation and review of consolidating and stand-alone tax provision calculations, tax account rollforwards, rate reconciliations and analysis of uncertain tax positions
• Coordinate with Finance to monitor business forecasts and evaluate related implications to legal entity results to analyze and maintain effective tax rate and cash taxes forecasts, including maintaining related sensitivity analysis
• Identify, assess, and implement process improvements and documentation in tax operations to optimize income tax accounting and compliance processes
• Manage the preparation and review of the Federal, State, and International income and indirect tax compliance
• Manage tax controls and assist with quarterly assessment and documentation
• Lead monthly/quarterly close processes, including ASC 450 tax accruals
• Tax research and documentation of tax accounting and other tax technical matters

What you should have

• 5+ years of corporate tax experience with Big 4 and/or Private Industry with a meaningful income tax accounting (ASC 740) experience and proven track record in corporate tax compliance
• Exposure to U.S. reporting of foreign operations (CFC, foreign disregarded entity)
• Commitment to producing quality work, ensuring tat work is delivered completely, accurately, and on time
• Strong time management and ability to flourish in a scaling company
• Exceptional written, verbal, technical and non-technical communication
• Experience working with and partnering with cross-functional teams to build relationships
• New York City residents only: Minimum salary of $133,000/year + equity and benefits
