About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in building a strong financial foundation for a fast-growing company with significant market opportunity. In this role you will partner with Sales and Finance leadership to understand the story behind the numbers, assess monthly/quarterly risks and opportunities, and improve forecasting across the business.

This role reports to Confluent's Sr. Director, Field Finance.

What You Will Do:

  • Drive the annual and long range financial planning process for the Commercial Sales organization, along with tracking of performance versus plan and partnering with business stakeholders to address performance gaps to plan
  • Ensure timely, accurate and insightful budgeting, forecasting, KPI, and reporting processes to facilitate effective oversight and decision-making, while also ensuring strong financial controls to ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Oversee the Commercial Sales Finance calendar, including long-range strategic planning and annual budgeting processes, as well as our quarter-end and annual reporting processes
  • Actively manage Commercial segment P&L and empower Commercial sales leadership with pertinent metrics around sales efficiency, productivity, payroll and non-payroll opex, T&E spend, and headcount hiring. Actively drive improvement of these key financial metrics through cross-functional partnership with sales, sales operations, accounting, and partner teams to drive to a measurable and successful outcome
  • Lead topical ad-hoc analyses and deep dives into strategic issues to improve the collective understanding of risks and opportunities related to these issues
  • Participate in the preparation of Monthly and Quarterly business review materials, along with providing analytical insights and highlighting key business trends.
  • Attract and develop talent and act as a coach for team members, providing constructive feedback to help employees improve their skills set and advance their careers

What You Will Bring:

  • 8+ years of FP&A experience or relevant strategic analytical experience
  • Strong business partnering skills and a holistic view of business strategy, processes, and financial objectives
  • Excellent financial modeling and analysis skills
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; must also be proficient using G-Suite. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate difficult concepts.
  • Ability to work quickly and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail.
  • A highly motivated team player able to thrive amidst the change and ambiguity inherent in fast-growing organizations
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
