This new division, based in Birmingham, AL, combines all Plant and Industrial Products in a single customer-focused package. We offer comprehensive solutions through an experienced team of professionals specifically focused on these two special markets. Our Mission is to be the Plant and Industrial supplier who is "easiest to do business with". We will make it easier to engineer, specify, and order components for plants. We will provide greater support for smoother delivery, cost-effective installation, and start-up. Most importantly, we will build strong relationships with design engineers, contractors, plant operations teams and project owners to assure we are their first-choice supplier for both new construction and future upgrades. Responsibilities:
Position Plant Accountant LocationAlabama Dynamics (Division of MPI)Calera, AL Directly reports toGM - Alabama DynamicsMPI Director of Finance & Integration (functional reporting) Position SummaryThe Plant Accountant is an integral part of both the local plant and the corporate accounting team. The Plant Accountant will support the daily operations of the site along with the site's monthly financial reporting, analysis, planning and forecasting. Additionally, the Plant Accountant will support plant decision making by providing local KPI's, monitoring plant expenses, analyze capital rationalization and be responsible for product costing and reviewing sales margins. This position will have the opportunity to interact with various teams at both the local plant and at the division office to present analysis and develop strategies for better performance. Position ResponsibilitiesMonthly preparation of site monthly closing of plant inventory ledgers and for responding to questions on spend, product cost variances and period expensesMaintain local KPIs and support operations including cost analysis, inventory control, product unit cost, variance analyticsAlong with the Cost Accounting Manager, responsible to maintain standard costing at the site Responsible for managing site fixed assets and prepare ROI analysis for future asset purchasesReconcile monthly inventory accountsCompile data and prepare a variety of reports upon request.Function in accordance with established standards, procedures, and applicable laws Temporary ResponsibilitiesProcess and review Accounts Payable and Accounts ReceivablePrepare remote bank depositsProcess and review Payroll in payroll software

Qualifications:
Basic QualificationsMust possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field from accredited college or universityMinimum three (3) years accounting or business-related experienceProven knowledge of financial statements, journal entries, and GAAPAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically ExcelExcellent verbal and written communication skills requiredDocumented history developing and maintaining positive working relationships in a multi-stakeholder cultureAbility to deliver results while working in a team focused environmentExcellent communication skills; verbal and writtenPreferred QualificationsMinimum five (5) years accounting or business-related experience in manufacturing.Experience in manufacturing variance analysis and standard costed inventoryReport writing using Microsoft Power BIPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
