We're on a mission to unlock more rewarding relationships between merchants and their customers, starting with changing the way we pay for things online. Backed by Sequoia, Index Ventures, and Forerunner, as well as the founders of Affirm, Warby Parker, Allbirds, Casper, and DoorDash, Catch is a new payment service that allows both merchants & consumers to save money by cutting out credit card processing fees. We're a fully distributed, tight-knit team of ~40, going on 70. Building a diverse team is paramount to our success and fostering a healthy company culture, and we're committed to an equitable interviewing process for all candidates.
The Role
We are looking to hire for our first in-house accounting role to stand up an accounting function from zero to one. Our accounting needs are currently outsourced to external firms with internal oversight but we are now at a critical inflection point; we need someone in-house who can be a thought partner day-to-day to internal stakeholders such that we build for scale in a compliant, strategic way.
Responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve upon our monthly and annual close of books activities, including internal management reporting and balance sheet reconciliations as needed
- Partner with Engineering and Product to ensure we are building products with an eye toward accounting implications internally and externally, in addition to collaborating closely with other stakeholders in Legal, People and Operations;
- Support external audit needs in partnership with PWC, including preparing financials to be audited in Q1 2023
- Build internal accounting processes, systems and policies for scale
- Research accounting needs or challenges for compliance with generally accepted accounting (GAAP) principles, and make informed recommendations to management; help us "see around corners" to anticipate future needs
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and diligence as requested
