The Private Equity Program at Stripe is the custodian of Stripe's relationships with growth and late stage private equity firms. We build robust relationships with partners and their portfolio companies to drive enduring business value for Stripe. We're looking for someone who is an exceptional relationship builder with strong attention to detail and project management skills to help the team cultivate partnerships and oversee key programs at scale. This role is about creating leverage for Stripe with partners via creative program building and project execution. We want someone who is excited to tackle a wide range of structured and unstructured problems using creativity, grit, data, and cross-functional prowess to deliver high-value engagements that drive business results.

The Private Equity Account Executive will help craft and lead the program by laying foundational infrastructure to engage with PE firms at scale, establish Stripe's strategy, and develop new and existing business relationships with PE firms.

You will:

Build the Infrastructure and lay the foundation for scale

  • Build engagement plans for top private equity firms that have infrastructure needs, and drive consistent engagement with their portfolio companies through consultative strategic planning and collaboration
  • Develop and implement a framework for tracking sponsor influence across Stripe's user base in Salesforce
  • Work with relevant stakeholders and partner teams to establish, monitor, and publish metrics Prioritize outreach efforts and maintain databases to coordinate across the company
  • Act as a project leader, coordinating across Stripe to facilitate sponsor related opportunities and establish escalation and discounting guidelines and approvals
  • Craft and execute narratives for Stripe's influence on portfolio companies and financial sponsors
  • Monitor legal and regulatory trends in the private equity industry that impact sponsors and their interactions with portfolio companies and users
  • Develop Stripe's strategy for engagement with the financial sponsor universe, including the long tail of smaller financial sponsors

Business Development

  • Support overall development and enhancement of private equity client relationships in partnership with AEs & AMs to position Stripe with sponsors as a top tier technology and commerce partner
  • Execute the strategic business development plan while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales teams, marketing, legal, support, etc.)
  • Represent Stripe in the financial sponsor ecosystem and take up speaking opportunities in industry events and platforms
  • Take a data-driven view of your work using Salesforce.com to measure and forecast accurately
  • Work cross functionally with partner teams to develop, road test, and deliver content for financial sponsors and portfolio companies
  • Lead coordination and segmentation of the financial sponsor universe
  • Manage efforts internally around sponsor selection and outreach
  • Develop relationships with key parties at financial sponsors
  • Identify likely user and portfolio opportunities generating revenue with firms and portfolio companies
  • Attend business development meetings with investment funds to assist in supporting relationship management development for Stripe and generating referral opportunities

Partner Management

  • Work closely with the financial sponsors and the portfolio companies to ensure they are successful using Stripe's services, making sure they have the technical resources required
  • Mentor portfolio companies on their overall technology and business aspects and establish credibility within the startups and investors community
  • Advise private equity firms on prospective investment opportunities and payments monetization across portfolios
  • Mine personal and Stripe-wide contacts in private equity universe to chart out escalation points and create relationship maps
  • Educate financial sponsors on Stripe's product suite, including payments, capital, treasury, and other software and services
  • Speak at financial sponsor portfolio company off-sites
  • Dialog with sponsor representatives and portfolio companies on strategy, payments, and industry trends

We're looking for someone who has:

  • 8+ years of business development/sales or program/product management or startup/investor experience within the technology industry
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations is key
  • Understanding of the private equity industry and its lexicon
  • Ability to learn quickly, be creative, and take initiative
  • Self-reliant, adaptable, decisive, and professional
