The Vehicle Engineering team at Bird is responsible for development of all vehicle components from concept to production.As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll have electrical design responsibility to help develop Bird scooters and provide engineering input and solutions to develop key brand differentiators.

Roles & Responsibility

  • Join our team as a key contributor, developing electrical components for micromobility vehicles
  • Work together with our team in the US to design and evaluate modules, including motor control and battery management circuits
  • Perform schematic design and PCBA layout of internally designed electronics
  • Direct China contract manufacturers, for those modules designed and developed by contractors
  • Set up and maintain China electronics lab
  • Write electrical module specifications
  • Measure and characterize modules in the China electronics lab, providing performance reports and checking compliance to specifications
  • Evaluate design solutions to ensure system integration.
  • Work with other Electrical, Mechanical, and Validation Engineers in analysis, investigation and resolution of engineering, manufacturing, and field problems.
  • Create and construct working prototypes for validation.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills - bilingual Chinese / English
  • Digital, analog, power circuit design experience
  • Design experience with motors, motor controllers, power supplies, inverters / converters, and/or power electronics
  • Prior professional experience with embedded electronics design containing microcontrollers
  • Design familiarity with IoT electronics
  • System level design abilities
  • Design for manufacturability (DFM) & Design for test (DFT), and familiarity with DFMEA processes
  • Experience with Altium Designer tools desired
  • Experience with Motor Control Systems
  • Experience with CANbus, UART, I2C, and SPI communications
  • Experience with embedded firmware a plus
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in an Engineering field
  • 10+ years related work experience preferred
