Solution Engineer

The Job As a Solution Engineer you will be part of the OX Professional Services Team, which helps our customers worldwide to deploy Open-Xchange, Dovecot and PowerDNS solutions in their networks and systems. As part of the team you will work closely with our customers, partners and other OX teams, collaborating in the analysis, design, setup, testing and launch phases of roll-out and migration projects. Key responsibilities

• Participate in technical meetings with customers, partners and OX colleagues. Assess customer's requirements, discuss technical challenges and find joint solutions.
• Help our customers to deploy Open-Xchange, Dovecot and PowerDNS technologies, working with them in the design, integration, installation, configuration, testing and launch of Email and DNS solutions.
• Investigate and reproduce complex custom issues, test solutions, help implement fixes with our Technical Support team
• Communicate with customers and partners and manage technical relationships
• Work closely with our development and technical support teams
• Hands on training of customer's administrators and support teams

What do you bring to the table

• In-depth knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Linux system such as Debian, RHEL, and SLES: command line interface, tuning, troubleshooting
• Scripting: bash, python
• Knowledge of Linux networking: interfaces, TCP/IP tuning, packet capture and analysis, etc
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and related orchestration software; infrastructure as code
• Knowledge of containers, Kubernetes and the related ecosystem
• Knowledge of and experience with networking protocols like IPv4, IPv6, UDP, TCP, Anycast
• Knowledge about open standard protocols and services like BGP, DNS, HTTPS, IMAP, SMTP, SQL
• Bonus: Experience with Dovecot IMAP Server and/or OX App Suite
• Bonus: Experience with Email platforms (MTA, antispam, webmail, mailboxes, etc.)
• Ability and willingness to work independently a part of a European team and to travel international
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English and German
• Be organized with a strong attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure
• Level of experience: 5-10 years

• Metrics: Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, InfluxDB
• Version Control: Git, Github, Gitlab

• Container infrastructure and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, bonus: basic orientation in the CNCF landscape
• Databases: PostgreSQL, MariaDB, MySQL, Redis
