Joining Collibra's Site Reliability Engineering team

  • The Site Reliability Engineering team at Collibra is responsible for ensuring that Collibra's products and platforms are reliable, performant and scalable.
  • The candidate will report to the Senior Director of Site Reliability Engineering, and will work closely with senior technical support, SRE and Product Engineering team members to help identify, remediate, and resolve issues with Collibra's application data layer.
  • The performance of Collibra's database layer is critical to the success of our software which empowers our customers' data citizens to unlock the value of their data.
  • Within the SRE team we know that Our Work Matters. Our work is on the forefront of our platform's observability, scalability and uptime and a lot of Collibrans depend on our expertise and tooling to ensure that reliability receives the focus our customers expect.

Senior PostgreSQL DBAs at Collibra are responsible for

  • Own observability standards and implementations for the database layer within Collibra's application portfolio.
  • Collaborate with SREs and Senior Technical Support Engineers to resolve database performance and scalability issues.
  • Collaborate with system architects and product engineers to design and implement scalable database schemas and configurations.
  • Participate in blameless postmortems to foster and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

You have

  • Experience with administering and supporting multiple relational databases in customer facing products with high performance and availability in both on prem and cloud environments.
  • Experience working with at least one major cloud computing provider (AWS, GCP or Azure).
  • Experience with system performance counters and metrics relevant to the operation of high-concurrency database systems.
  • Experience with common monitoring and observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Elastic, Cloudwatch)

  • Deeply technical, data-driven and methodical about finding the root cause of performance problems and reliability constraints.
  • Passionate about automating manual tasks.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a diverse team of engineers across disciplines working together to help make Collibra's platform observable and resilient.
  • Invested in ensuring that systems scale sub-linearly to satisfy customer demand.
  • Comfortable working across team boundaries to share knowledge and constructive input with the broader engineering community.
  • Proficient in English (written and verbal).

Reporting to Collibra's Sr. Director, Site Reliability Engineering, Senior PostgreSQL DBA's measures of success are

  • Within your first month, you will gain a fundamental understanding of the Collibra application stack and the SRE team's approach to running systems in Production.
  • Within your third month, you will have a working knowledge of the Collibra core product set's database layer and will be working with Senior Technical Support staff to investigate performance issues experienced by customers in Production.
  • Within your sixth month, you will be working with the SRE team to ensure complete observability of our database implementations and working on solutions to optimize the Collibra product's database implementation.
