OVERVIEW

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced IT engineering Manager to run the Corporate Engineering team, leading the continued development and implementation of corporate engineering initiatives and supporting the mission and growth of Instacart.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of IT Infrastructure, you will provide technology leadership for the Client Platform Engineering, IT Security, and IT Solutions Engineering verticals. You will be responsible for the coaching and development of senior ICs of each of these IT Infrastructure verticals.

You must have well-developed and highly effective listening, communication, presentation, and persuasive skills, including the ability to receive, process, and present information to diverse audiences while maintaining effective, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.

ABOUT THE JOB

Coach, mentor, and develop a team of senior ICs, leading them to meet or exceed Instacart's expectations for rapid innovation, implementation, quality and achievement
Provide guidance and oversight across projects and technology platforms, ensuring best practices and technology standards are followed
Proactively research and investigate new or improved methodology or technology that will either improve IT customer or IT infrastructure processes, increase productivity, or reduce expenses
Partner with the IT Systems manager on projects involving IAM, employee lifecycle, corporate networking, etc
Expand, manage to and report on Corporate Engineering SLAs
Manage an on-call rotation and ensure coverage for critical services

ABOUT YOU

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of IT engineering or technical operations experience, with a focus on at least one of the following areas: IT Infrastructure, Client Platform Engineering, IT Security/Corporate Security, Productivity Engineering, or IAM.
3+ years of managing an IT Engineering team
3+ years of scripting or tool building in a modern language, with Python preferred (It's fine if you haven't done this as part of your job lately)
3+ years of managing a SIEM or log management system (eg Splunk, Elastic, Sumo Logic)
A consistent track record of handling a range of complex, high-impact projects with strong organizational leadership and influencing skills
Demonstrated understanding of information security principles and IT infrastructure best practices
Self motivation and an enjoyment for a startup environment
A strong sense of ownership
Ability to travel to support company goals (eg new office openings or company events)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Project management experience or certification
2+ years developing tooling for a VDI environment (eg, VMware, AWS Workspaces)
Jamf administration experience, and/or certifications
Okta Certified Administrator or Developer certification
