dbt Labs was founded in 2016 to empower analysts to create and disseminate organizational knowledge. Since then, we've grown to become one of the leading brands in the analytics industry. Our product, dbt, is used by thousands of companies. dbt Labs is a remote-first, values-driven company with a globally distributed team. You can learn more about our values here.

About the role:

As a Senior Product Designer on our Growth and Pricing team, you'll play a pivotal role in improving our user onboarding experience, crafting new growth paths, and providing our users with clear, easy-to-understand usage and pricing information. Your work will directly influence user retention and our bottom line, ensuring that dbt Cloud users find the utmost value every step of the way.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Design streamlined onboarding flows that get users engaged and active swiftly
  • Ensure that our pricing structures are intuitive, straightforward, and easily accessible, helping users understand the value they're receiving
  • Create high quality, delightful experiences while collaborating with designers, product managers, engineers, and others on your team
  • Take concepts from research, to exploration, to prototypes, to production
  • Be an active member of the Design team by sharing your work, actively participating in design reviews, and collaborating with others to make their work and the whole team better
  • Contribute to the definition and expansion of new and existing design systems
  • Develop a solid understanding of the humans who use our product, and how best to design for them

You are a good fit if you:

  • Have 5+ years of experience designing for web-based applications and tools, not just websites. You've shipped products.
  • Are highly proficient in Figma or other modern design and collaboration tools
  • Have a deep understanding of the end-to-end design process, from brainstorming, to prototyping and visual design, to post-launch research and iteration
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Are highly collaborative and love learning from others
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Worked asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team

You'll have an edge if you:

  • Have experience designing developer-focused products and tools

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $137,000-200,000
  • Equity Stake*
  • Benefits: In the US, dbt Labs offers unlimited vacation (and yes we use it!), 401k w/3% guaranteed contribution, excellent healthcare, paid parental leave and a home office stipend. For employees outside the United States, dbt Labs offers a competitive benefits package.

*Equity or comparable benefits may be offered depending on the legal limitations

A note on applying & process

  • Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? Please apply anyway! We look for people with exceptional potential and who are excited to join our team, as we know highest performing teams include people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences.
  • We'll ask you to participate in a portfolio presentation. Your portfolio should outline the problems you were tackling with your design work. Your portfolio should touch on your approach to solving design challenges, in addition to visual design. Your experience should ideally focus on designing software products, not landing pages or websites.

What to expect in the hiring process:

  • interview with a Talent Acquisition Partner
  • interview with our Product Design Director
  • A team interview including multiple members of the Product Design Team
  • Portfolio Presentation to members of the Product Design Team

Who we are

At dbt Labs, we have developed strong opinions on how companies should practice analytics.

Specifically, we believe that:

  • Code, not graphical user interfaces, is the best abstraction to express complex analytic logic
  • Data analysts should adopt similar practices and tools to software developers
  • Critical analytics infrastructure should be controlled by its users as open source software
  • Analytic code itself - not just analytics tools - will increasingly be open source

It turns out that a lot of other people believe this too! Today, there are 20,000 companies using dbt every week, 65,000 practitioners in the dbt Community Slack, and 3,500 companies paying for dbt Cloud. Our customers include JetBlue, Hubspot, Vodafone New Zealand, and Dunelm. dbt is synonymous with the practice of analytics engineering, defining an entire industry. We're backed by top investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia Capital, and Altimeter. We recently raised our series D: read the announcement here!

dbt Labs is an equal opportunity employer. We're committed to building an inclusive team that welcomes a diversity of perspectives, people, and backgrounds regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, citizenship, veteran status, or any other protected status. We feel strongly that whether or not your experience exactly fits the job description, your passion and skills will stand out and set you apart even if your career has taken some twists and turns. If you are on the fence about whether you meet our requirements, we encourage you to apply anyway! Please reach out to us directly at if you need assistance or an accommodation.
