Senior User Experience Designer

Vouch

Remote job description

About Vouch:

Insurance... sounds slow, old-fashioned, and unexciting. Exactly. Insurance is broken, and it's failing fast-moving, innovative startups.

Vouch is a new, technology-first insurance company backed with $160M in funding from world-class investors. Like Stripe for payments or Brex for credit cards, Vouch is creating the go-to business insurance for high-growth companies.

We're doing this by making insurance fast, responsive, and focused on our customers -high growth and innovative companies. Instead of printed PDF applications and week-long waits, Vouch is building new technology to solve real problems, writing policies that actually cover relevant startup scenarios, and designing simple experiences in an otherwise frustrating industry.

What does a work environment look like at Vouch?

Vouch is a Virtual First Workplace with SF and Chicago office locations. This role can be based anywhere in the U.S. as long as you can work our Vouch core collaboration hours (8:30 am-2:30 pm Pacific Time.)

About the design domain:

Insurance is a hard design problem. The products are complicated, the sales process is nuanced, and the workflows are long. It gets even harder when your clients are leading tech companies with high expectations for a great user experience.

Buying insurance is a major decision with significant stakes and multiple stakeholders. The sales process evolves over several weeks or months and includes multiple stages, including calls with expert guidance from real people, and digital experiences like applications and payment management. Behind the scenes, our teams and algorithms assemble an appropriate insurance program and provide comprehensive risk management guidance.

Vouch is revolutionizing the industry by crafting a delightful client experience, a perfect blend of people-oriented service and digital efficiency, powered by a flexible technology platform that can deliver better insurance, faster.

As a key member of our team, you will help design the client experience and the operational processes that support it, as well as zooming in on distinct challenges to deliver specific solutions, such as enhancing internal dashboards, creating tools for our proprietary insurance products, and refining automated client communications.

Success in this role requires:

  • Mastering Complexity: Insurance is highly complex, and while industry knowledge is not a prerequisite (we're happy to guide you), you should be prepared to delve into the intricacies of our offerings and take pleasure in managing the details and resolving constraints.
  • Designing Across Internal Tools: You will be tasked with designing processes and experiences within and across tools such as Zendesk, Salesforce, and low-code platforms like Retool. Your focus should be on merging process improvements and UI/UX implementations to create holistic solutions that benefit our users, clients, and business.
  • Embracing Sales & Marketing: Your work will intersect with sales and marketing concepts. You must be comfortable working with matters of persuasion, influence and education, and create comprehensive solutions that may even include scripts for client-facing roles or strategies for product positioning.

Job Duties:

We are seeking a seasoned design professional that can execute on projects spanning research, process design, system design, and UX design. Responsibilities include:

  • User Research: Conduct user research to voice our clients and internal users' needs, understanding their behaviors, pain points, viewpoints, and thought processes.
  • Journey Mapping & Workflow Design: Visualize client and internal user journeys, aligning the organization around opportunities to enhance experiences and drive business metrics.
  • Ideation & Problem Solving: Conceptualize, design, and pitch design solutions, highlighting challenges and trade-offs, and leading cross-functional collaboration to arrive at the best outcomes.
  • Wireframing, Prototyping & Testing: Showcase your creativity through the development of wireframes and prototypes, conducting usability tests to validate design decisions.
  • Stakeholder Management & Influence: Leverage your excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across product, engineering, underwriting, and sales divisions, promoting aligned goals.

About you:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design or research roles
  • Experience with complex B2B offerings
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to and passion for early-stage startups and/or high growth environments

Vouch provides a number of benefits to help you bring your best self to work:

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Parental leave
  • Flexible vacation time (Unlimited PTO)
  • Wellness allowance ($80/month)
  • Technology allowance ($100/month)

Salary Range:

The pay range for this role is: $140,000 to $155,000 per year.

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry and are one part of our total compensation package that also includes benefits and other perks. We also include stock options in all compensation packages and believe all Vouch employees should have the opportunity to become owners in the company.

Individual pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skill set, location, and business need. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Vouch believes in putting our people first and building a diverse team is at the front of everything that we do. We welcome people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer and celebrate the diversity of our growing team.

If you require reasonable accommodation in completing this application, interviewing, completing any pre-employment testing, or otherwise participating in the employee selection process, please direct your inquiries to recruiting@vouch.us. #LI-Remote
