The Position

While leading a customer-centric industry transformation, the Genentech Experience Design team is seeking a Sr. Studio Design Lead to support the development of a new human-centered design practice. As the organization evolves, the Sr. Studio Design Lead will be expected to work as both a hands-on designer and UX evangelist, charged with implementing Design Thinking, conducting UX research, creating engaging designs, and providing oversight to vendor teams. Our patients and customers are foundational to EVERY effort we undertake.

As the market shifts, the design practice will continue to adapt to new customer behaviors. Therefore, a key part of this role will include the ability to provide education for the greater community, support a foundational governance model, and collaborate with stakeholders, while providing oversight for vendor initiatives.

The Experience Design team serves as a strategic pillar within the Engagement and Experience Design organization at Genentech. Therefore, the team will focus on the key projects, initiatives, and deliverables that provide both strategic value and high impact to our patients and customers.

Who We Are
Experience Operations (XO) is a newly-assembled organization that brings together both emerging and established centers of excellence in patient and customer experience, engagement design, co-creation, technology platforms/systems, digital solution enablement, end-to-end content management, business activity compliance, digital and other engagement channels (web, social, mobile, relationship marketing, inside sales, samples, events, etc), and omnichannel orchestration. This combined team guides Marketing, Customer Engagement, Medical Affairs, Access & External Affairs, and all other patient- and customer-facing teams across CMG to shape and drive a seamless, consistent, meaningful, and compliant experience for patients and customers across our interactions. The team is specifically accountable to* Define omnichannel standards, shape engagement strategies , and design seamless, consistent & meaningful patient and customer experiences
* Accelerate, connect, and enable the development of technology solutions that enhance the patient and customer experience across CMG.
* Advance the goal of seamless, consistent & meaningful patient and customer experiences that maximize patient impact while keeping compliance at the forefront

This role will report to the Director of Experience Design and serve as a leader within the physical and digital design studio.

This role's preference for location is South San Francisco, CA; However we are open to Remote. For Remote work, the expectation would be to travel Up-To 6 times per year to the South San Francisco, CA campus.

Job Accountabilities:

* This role will be accountable to execute on the Experience Design annual roadmap that will include projects and initiatives across Physical, Social, Digital, and Virtual environments via in-person and digital interactions.
* Working with patients, potential patients, advocates, caregivers, customers, employees and third-party partners to develop customer experience insights, data driven problem state validation, design experiences, create and deploy prototypes, perform vendor oversight, evangelize design thinking principles and maintain design quality assurance in support of implementation.
* This role will be responsible for to support the development of the Human Centered Design practice at Genentech and will be expected to develop strategies and operational decisions via customer experience insights to impact the following communities:
* Patients
* Advocates
* Caregivers
* Customers
* Employees
* Third-Party Partners (to include vendors, sub-contractors, industry research partners and Think Tanks)

KEY ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE AREAS

* Ability to structure resource plans and disseminate information to global teams
* Ability to convert information architecture, product requirements, and customer data into strategic forward-thinking designs.
* Knowledge of Agile methodology to include requirements documentation
* Knowledge of user experience design, design thinking, and human-centered design.
* Knowledge of the product development lifecycle.
* Knowledge of Journey Mapping, Ethnography, Usability Research and Testing
* Knowledge of Prototyping, Wireframing, and Visual QA
* Knowledge of program management as it pertains to the design lifecycle which includes conceptual designs, design best practices, and procedures.
* Ability to develop and conduct ideation sessions both in-person and virtually
* Excellent interpersonal, organizational, motivational and team-building skills.
* Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships at all organizational levels with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to support, disseminate and enforce design standards, principles, and guidelines.
* Ability to provide oversight on vendor projects
* Ability to support small to mid-sized projects, strategies, and generate artifacts independently.
* Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the individual to simultaneously manage several tasks, while paying attention to detail and quality.
* Ability to evaluate and investigate key market trends and analytics associated with the user experience design, providing recommendations, and market reporting
* Ability to support, communicate, and distribute qualitative and quantitative customer data sets and dashboards for correlation with other corporate metrics

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

* Digital Design Strategy
* Organizational Change Management
* Media Communications Design
* UX Industry Analysis
* User Experience Analysis & Research - incorporating qualitative and quantitative data
* Expertise in reservation flows, loyalty, sales, and contact center interactions, procedures, and processes
* Ideation, visioning, and journey mapping
* Visual/Graphic Design Tools - Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, InVision
* Prototyping o Designing for Accessibility and ADA communities
* Customer/UX Testing - UserZoom (Crowd-Sourced Insights)

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & CERTIFICATION

* Bachelor's degree OR Professional Certification/Diploma from an accredited School in the following disciplines: Design, UX, Human-Centered Design, Service Design, Interaction Design or similar design disciplines.
* At least 8 years previous work experience in the following disciplines: Human-centered design, UX design, Interaction design, Design Thinking, and SDLC, UX Strategy, UX Research, Design Studio leadership with the ability to manage complex UX projects and vendor teams.
* CX Insights - In-person and Digital Facilitation
* Wireframing in low and high fidelity
* Touchscreen, Mobile, Conversational (Ai) and Responsive Design
* Willingness and ability to travel, as needed, up to 10%.

* Project Management, PMP Certification
* Design Thinking, Human-Centered Design, UX Design Methodologies

* Ability to handle difficult situations with tact and discretion
* Ability to present White Board discussions to cross-functional teams and Management personnel.
* Well organized with consistent attention to detail and quality

For Colorado-based applicants, the expected salary range for this position is $158,700- $185,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits listed below.
