Machine Learning Scientist

About you

You're an experienced Machine Learning Scientist with great Python skills who always keeps up to date with the latest advancements and releases in the Machine Learning space. You should be comfortable leading projects and managing your own time within them. You love sharing knowledge with the rest of your team and can communicate all things ML to the wider business.

About the role

You will join our small, but growing machine learning team at Cazana. This role requires someone with experience designing machine learning models production-ready to compliment our current team's knowledge and skillset. You will be given space and autonomy to experiment and deliver the best possible models to support the business needs. We have available many years of data in various forms that are still yet to be used to create new models.

Using big data and predictive analytics, Cazana analyses millions of automotive transactions daily to assess the value and risk associated with every vehicle on the road, enabling more accurate valuation and pricing in vehicle purchasing and insuring. We aim to make the car market (across all its service lines) fairer through a wholesale modernisation in its approach to pricing.

Founded in 2013, we are disrupting an industry which has typically been associated with mistrust due to the lack of accurate data. We use innovative AI and data-science driven modelling in a sector that can feel dated and we have developed the industry's first real-time retail-driven valuations. Our systems are used by insurers, dealerships, finance companies and manufacturers globally.

Role and responsibilities

Improve and maintain the current generations of models in the company

Design the next generation strategy for the models

Lead machine learning projects

Mentor other team members

Collaborate directly with key stakeholders across various business areas

The skills, attributes and experience you must have:

BSc in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar field. A Masters or PhD degree is a plus.

Proven experience as a Machine Learning Scientist or similar

Experience designing models for production environments

Ability to write robust code in Python

Deep knowledge of machine learning algorithms, libraries and frameworks

Autonomous; you can come in and have the experience and skill set to hit the ground running

A track record of being able to effectively measure the success or failure of the features you create

A high level of attention to detail

Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills

Experience working with stakeholders across various business areas

Skills, attributes and experience it would be nice for you to have:

Experience deploying models after its design

Experience working with cloud computing environments like AWS
