OUR VALUES

Be a great human

Empathize. Lead. Proactively identify and seize opportunities to effect positive change. Celebrate the success of others as much as your own.

Be curious

Constantly learning, exploring, and challenging the status quo. Open to new ideas. Understand and adapt to the business, clients, and products you work with.

Be veracious

Put quality first. Clearly define the problem, then build the right solution. Be impeccable with your word.

THE ROLE

The Creative Director will lead and manage designers as well as interface directly with members of our team and client teams. You will also have opportunities to expand upon your skills as a designer, sharing expertise with members of the team, working on a wide variety of client and internal projects.

You will report to our VP of Operations and Strategy and manage our creative team. We prioritize a healthy work-life balance and have been a remote organization since our inception. This position is based anywhere within the continental United States.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to leading and mentoring designers, you will:

  • Work with clients to understand their business goals and sell design services.
  • Work with project leads to ensure the requirements, priorities, users needs and clients goals are clear and aligned.
  • Explore design options that consider both the short- and long-term; creating a vision for the future, while also understanding how to break up work into manageable parts.
  • Lead feedback sessions with stakeholders and collaborators (both internal and external) and integrating feedback into your work.
  • Write clear specifications for teammates.
  • Draft and edit web copy to ensure the language used in the product is clear and understandable.
  • Manage and mentor designers and foster the career growth of the designers on your team.

MUST HAVES

  • Synthesize and visualize data, so that a story can easily be understood by a wide audience, no matter how complicated the data might actually be.
  • Use Figma as your primary design software.
  • Maintain and evolve a design system, so that you and designers can work from similar toolboxes and so that designs are consistent across pages and brands.
  • Make designs flexible between mobile, tablet and desktop screen sizes.
  • Lead feedback sessions that are constructive, inspirational, and aptly-timed. While sharing your designs, you'll need to clearly communicate your intentions, reasons and assumptions to a group that you've brought together.
  • Prioritize and self-manage. We give our employees a lot of autonomy.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be humble and willing to raise your hand to ask for help when you need it.
  • Be comfortable and happy working remotely with a fast and reliable internet connection.

EXPERIENCE

This role is for individuals with:

  • 6+ years of experience in creating interfaces, large-scale digital experiences, and applications.
  • 3+ years experience in mobile design and in creating high-fidelity designs.
  • 2+ years experience working with Figma.

TRAITS

  • Compassion and empathy. Have a people-first leadership style.
  • Knowledgeable. You demonstrate delivering value in digital strategy.
  • Curious. You challenge the status quo and suggest improvements in workflow, scope or design.
  • Mentoring and coaching. Be able and eager to develop and coach our teams on best practices and approaches and foster career development.
  • Ownership. Be proactive and accountable for your work, and leave things better than when you found them.
  • Critical thinking. You know how to identify a problem and how to solve it, or you figure out how.

NICE TO HAVES

  • Knowledge of accessibility and creating accessible designs.
  • Experience hiring and scaling a team of varied skills for growth that's appropriate to the forecasted needs of the company.
  • Experience motivating and positively engaging staff and management cross functionally in ways that build trust and enthusiasm.
  • Experience with healthcare and telehealth products; specifically, how patients and providers interact.
