Analytics Engineers sit at the intersection of Analytics teams, Product Engineering and Data Engineering. You'll take the lead on developing and owning core data models that power our decision making at Trustpilot. You'll own and deliver complex data models end to end - understanding the use case, required precision and implementing reliable, scalable and optimised data assets. Analytics Engineers speak the language of business teams and technical teams, able to translate data insights and analysis needs into tables and code. The successful Analytics Engineer is able to blend business acumen with technical expertise and transition between business strategy and data development.

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will ensure our analytics layer and accompanying solutions are designed and developed following best practices, are cost-effective, reliable and scalable. It will be your responsibility, along with our Data Platforms team, to ensure that the technologies we use are being leveraged appropriately to provision data to our end users while maintaining appropriate flexibility and security. You will be accountable for creating and maintaining the data platform that is used for reporting, data mining and analytics across the business. There will be a blend of project and BAU work in this role, and currently, a focus for the team is rebuilding core data assets and reviewing our datalake architecture.

To be successful in this role, you will have the initiative and incentive to work in a complex environment involving multiple integration points and collaboration with other teams. You must have conviction behind your ideas to create a scalable system and lead the junior engineers, ensuring the final quality of the product.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Managing and maintaining the Analytics data layer from end to end.
  • Designing, building, and maintaining appropriate ETL processes leveraging GCP and Airflow, and similar technologies.
  • Determining best-fit technologies to enable stakeholders to see their data in our data visualisation tool, Looker, requiring collaboration with our Data Platforms team.
  • Collaborating with our Data Platforms team to roll out GCP's Data Catalogue to enable tracking and surfacing of relevant data points across the business for self-service.
  • Documenting relevant data models for use both within the team and in other parts of the business to enable self-service.
  • Administration and management of our data visualisation tool, Looker.
  • Assisting stakeholders with building their own dashboards and reports as we roll out self-service analytics.
  • Data governance, documenting our data pipelines to provide visibility to other parts of the business.
  • Encourage and champion a test driven development.
  • Advocate for data as a product to ensure data is documented, reviewed, and accurate.
  • Planning and leading data projects.
  • Optimising our data warehouse, reducing complexity and costs where possible.
  • Collaboratively set standards and ways of working across the data functions.
  • Mentor team members.

Requirements and capabilities :

  • 1+ years in the data space as an Analyst, Data Scientist, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years in the data space as a Data Engineer, BI/ETL developer, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the same data model and adapting it over time as requirements change.
  • Demonstrated experience leading data projects.
  • Experience in either the maintenance or roll-out of a data visualisation tool.
  • Endlessly curious, proactive, and driven - you're passionate about data and technology and how it can transform a business.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced reporting capabilities in Tableau, Looker or similar data visualisation tools.
  • Excellent working knowledge of relational databases and modern data warehousing techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience with GCP and Airflow, or other data warehouses and orchestration tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with documentation of data pipelines and data models.
  • A go-getting, positive attitude, with the ability to get things done with minimal oversight.
  • Track record of successfully collaborating cross-functionally and delivering high quality and impactful results.
  • Extensive experience in 2 or more major data subject areas (marketing, web analytics, finance, product, etc).
  • Extensive experience in 2 or more modern cloud platforms.
  • Ability to use version control tools.
  • Having a solution oriented mindset.
  • Great communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to convey technical concepts and complex logic to non-technical colleagues.
