Scale AI's deep technical expertise in leveraging AI for a range of industry and federal applications positions it well to communicate the benefits, risks, opportunities and issues related to AI development and deployment to a broad audience. A Scale AI policy analyst is needed to produce detailed research on AI policy topics and introduce Scale to the technology policy community through communicating that research externally in appropriate fora. In this role, we are looking for someone who has both a technical background, a passion for policy, and an ability to explain complicated technology to a broader, less technical audience.

You will:

  • Produce detailed research on AI policy topics (Federal AI R&D spending, implications of AI for national security, government-related AI applications, global technology competition, etc.)
  • Draft both technical blog posts and non-technical op-ed style communications for internal and external publication in major news media
  • Engage deeply with the broader, non-technical technology policy communityIdentify opportunities for Scale leadership to present at events influential to the AI policy community
  • Source responses to policy-oriented Federal requests for information (RFIs) from across relevant teams at Scale

Ideally you'd have:

  • 2+ years of experience in policy/research analyst or emerging technologies consulting role
  • At least a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or policy-relevant field
  • Strong short-and long-form writing skills

Nice to haves:

  • Experience writing policy analyses and reports for think tanks or industry organizations
  • Prior government experience as a civil servant, service member, or consultant
  • Deep technical background (MS/PhD) in artificial intelligence or other emerging technologies
  • Previous publications or presentations in technology policy community media/fora
