Risk Engineering is a highly cross-functional team dedicated to building the risk defenses, distributed systems and optimized user flows to mitigate financial losses, protect consumers, and ensure Plaid's customers are compliant with regulatory and financial institution requirements.

In this role, you will be responsible for building the heuristic rules and machine learning models that detect high-risk behavior for all products Plaid is offering, as well as designing and evolving the ML infrastructure shared by the risk and compliance engineering team. You'll work with teams across Plaid to define the ML roadmap in the long term.

• Dive deep into data and apply data driven decisions in day-to-day work.

What excites us

• 5+ years in building data intensive backend applications in large distributed systems.
• 3+ years in training and serving ML models in a production environment.
• Experience with payments, risk, compliance, and fraud detection.
• Ability to code and iterate independently on top of data infrastructure tools like Python, Spark, Jupyter notebooks, standard ML libraries, etc.
• Take pride in taking ownership and driving projects to business impact.
• Data analytics and data engineering experience is a plus.
• Ability to work with technical and non-technical teams
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a closely related field.
