The Database Administrator role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain database objects in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes but not limited to creating, installing, maintaining, monitoring, and updating data environments both on-premises and in the cloud. The Database Administrator will also research, design, document, and modify data storage specifications throughout the production life cycle. This is full time salary, exempt position that reports to the Lead Developer.

This position may be able to work remote from home if able to meet performance guidelines. If working remote you must be a resident of Florida and work from home in the state of Florida while employed with our organization. While working remote from home, you will be required to have reliable internet connectivity provided and may need a wired connection. Although this position, maybe classified as "remote work from home" position, periodic visits to the Corporate Office, Altamonte Springs FL., location may be required, depending on business needs.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • At least 5 years' experience as a DBA or Database Engineer
  • Expertise in designing/configuring mission critical, highly available and high throughput Databases such as MySQL, MS SQL and/or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with SQL 2016 or higher in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience with SQL Server Always On and Windows clustering.
  • Experience in building and administering IaaS-based database configurations in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with VLDB ~20 TB across multiple regional data centers.
  • Setting up and monitoring cybersecurity measures
  • Expertise in migrating Server databases from on-premises environments to the public cloud, with an emphasis on Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong technical knowledge in the Microsoft SQL Server database engine and related components, including an emphasis on database and object migration from on-premises to cloud environments
  • Experience with Redis, and AWS technologies a plus.
  • Ethically handling private data, including financial and/or healthcare data for certain companies
  • Ability to work with data architects and other IT specialists to set up, maintain and monitor data
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations.
  • Assist with design and implementation of a data loading tool to move sanitized data from production to a non-production environment
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades
  • Timely and regular attendance is an essential function of the position; being physically present in the work environment is an essential job function
  • After hours work and overtime is required, periodically as needed. Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.

Other Essential Skills

  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices, of SDLC
  • Extensive relational database and operating systems experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies
  • Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues
  • Communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams
  • Hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans
  • Flexible and adaptable regarding learning and understanding new technologies
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct research into data-related issues and products
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand tools, and to handle other computer components

  • Sitting for long periods of time approximately, approximately 6-8 hours a day
  • Writing and/or typing for long periods of time, approximately 8-10 hours a day

Education, Certification, and Software

  • Proficiency in a variety of SQL Server Always On and Windows clustering. Experience with other data storage methodologies in Azure. Experience in data architecture is a plus.
  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or data engineering, and/or 7 years' equivalent work experience
