About the role

As a Data Engineer at Sof?a, you will be positioned to make a significant impact on the lives of millions of people and you will be continuously exposed to strategic discussions and decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and oversee the deployment and operation of the data technology architecture, solutions and software to capture, manage, store and utilize structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources.
  • Design, develop, deploy, and manage a ETL/EL/ELT pipelines as well as integrating them with business processes using tools like Python, Airflow, Docker and SQL.
  • Support multiple engineering, data and analytics teams in collecting, accessing, and analyzing data.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of work experience as data engineering, architect, or analyst role.
  • Strong data engineering and ETL skills including automation of tasks using Airflow, Dataflow, Luigi, Pentaho or similar.
  • Strong understanding of OLAP architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with developer tools like Github, containerization, automated tests, etc.
  • Strong experience working with relational databases (SQL), IoT objects (json, XML) and unstructured data.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies like AWS, GCP or Azure, including buckets (S3, GS), IAM governance, fully-managed services, and massive parallel processing technologies (BigQuery, Hive, Redshift, Aurora, Impala, Pig).
  • Technical documentation using Markdown.
  • A continuous drive to explore, improve, enhance, automate, and optimize processes and products.
  • Willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques.

Bonus Points

  • Advanced SQL performance tuning (query execution plans, complexity and big O)
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional level of organization.
  • Hands-on experience with data analytics dashboards (Tableau, DataStudio) and ability to derive insights.
  • Experience building basic RESTful APIs.
  • Proven ability to achieve results in a fast paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment.
  • Hands-on experience in data analysis involving distributed data sets.
  • Post graduate degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Actuary, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, etc.).
