Confluent's Professional Services organisation is far from a traditional vendor outfit, we are not defined by utilisation rate and margins, we are defined by customer success. The strategic significance of the team cannot be overstated - you will play a key part in leading and advising our customers to success. Our Commercial Solution Architects play an essential role in enabling our customers to successfully deploy and grow their Confluent Cloud.

The commercial team have been at the forefront of Confluent's Cloud adoption, they are Cloud native and growing fast, very fast. This will be the first Solution Architect for the commercial team in EMEA (part of the well-established Professional Services team in place for some years at Confluent) so on top of supporting our customers you will need to be contributing to building the organisation through strategic playbooks, opportunity identification, creating SKUs, and defining the team's processes. At the same time, we are hiring several Solution Architects for this team and are considering those of all experience levels.

No two days will be the same, you will work across all the public clouds so be prepared to always be learning and mastering new technologies, from Cloud network architecture, Security, monitoring, building integrations and automations, Data Warehouses and Lakehouses etc. You will need to contribute as fast growing tech companies are building ML and AI applications that deliver real time business differentiation.

In order to be successful in this role you will need to bring knowledge and passion for big distributed data systems and cloud architecture. Kafka expertise is an advantage but in no way a prerequisite, this is something we have and know that for the right people we can train in quick time. You will not be developing applications full time but you will need to give deep technical guidance to our customers' development teams.

Given the cloud focus of the role, the vast majority of the work can be done remotely so the travel expectation is very low.
