OUTER'S MISSION

Outer is a fast growing venture-backed startup based in Santa Monica, California on a mission to get people outside and inspire healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives by creating innovative outdoor furniture.

THE ROLE
The Senior Director, or Director of Business Development will initially be focused on channel partners and commercial customer relationships (B2B). This role is equal parts strategy and setting a roadmap, as it is relationship building with key partners.
As the first hire on the BD team reporting into the VP of Strategy, you will have the unique opportunity to define the vision for Outer's B2B partnership network.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

    • Build business cases and prospect new partners who can drive meaningful business results
    • Determine requirements to set Outer up for success to consistently win new partnerships and RFPs
    • Facilitate multiple new partner projects simultaneously, while building positive relationships with partners and actively collaborating cross-functionally to ensure the closing and proper support of new opportunities
    • Support strategic analysis and long-term planning for several of Outer's key partnership categories
    • Develop best practices and efficient processes for growing our partner base
    • Establish process for tracking partners in CRM or relevant systems
    • Grow and manage a high performing BD team

WHAT YOU'LL BRING ON DAY 1

    • 8-12 years of experience building out a strategy, sales, or business development function
    • Strong communication skills and ability to represent Outer to external partners
    • Experience in hospitality or other commercial / trade sales or on the procurement / purchasing side
    • Knowledge of online retail furniture distribution channels
    • Fast learner and strategic mindset
