About McBooks: McBooks is a small firm specializing in small business and not for profit bookkeeping and accounting. We have earned a reputation in the business and nonprofit community for excellent work and are recommended by many nonprofit accounting firms who do nonprofit audits. Currently we are a team of seven. We all work remotely from our homes but help each other when advice is needed.
About the Job: We have an immediate opening for a Full Charge Bookkeeper with experience in non-profit bookkeeping. We are looking for a self-starter who can handle multiple client accounts, master deadlines and keep clients on track. We love our clients and their missions and want it to show in our work. The position would begin as three days per week but would gradually or quickly increase to five days a week. The job would entail maintaining the books for several small businesses and nonprofit organizations. After an initial training period the new Bookkeeper would be expected to work independently from their own home office.
Skills Necessary for the Job:
Three to five years in nonprofit accounting.
At least two years of accounting study at an accredited college or university.
Experience preparing audit schedules and 990 schedules.
Ability to reconcile complicated books and set up proper accounting processes.
Ability to set up a new system for tracking specific programs, grants and restricted funds.
Ability to effectively communicate with clients in all situations.
Ability organize one’s time and ensure that promised deadlines are met. Be able to communicate effectively with clients who are not meeting their scheduled obligations.
Must be extremely proficient in QuickBooks Pro and Excel and Drop Box. Must have experience with all modules of QuickBooks, i.e. Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, etc..
Most important, must be able to make a personal connection with each client.
Salary commensurate with experience.
Benefits paid relative to 60% FTE
